
The importance of gender economics in the development of women’s entrepreneurship in Armenia was discussed
The conference on “Gender economics and its importance for the development of women’s entrepreneurship in Armenia” concluded on January 26 with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia and the Union of Women Employers of Yerevan and Neighboring Regions. Among the participants were representatives of state bodies, public and international organizations, and businesswomen.
The participants of the conference were welcomed and wished for effective work by Armen Martirosyan, the Vice President of UMBA, Luiza Ayvazyan, the Head of Armenia Branch office of the Center for International Private Enterprise, and Elen Manaseryan, the President of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia.
Susanna Khalatyan, President of the Union of Women Employers of Yerevan and neighboring regions, presented the 10-year activities and upcoming plans.
According to her, one of the priority tasks of their union and the organized conference is to form a platform where it will be possible to raise and discuss the issues affecting women businessmen, to develop and implement support and capacity building programs, and to exchange necessary information.
Opinions were presented on the presented topics and an active discussion took place.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Union of Women Employers of Yerevan and neighboring regions and the Committee on Equality in Labor Relations of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Armenia.
The conference was held within the framework of the program “Strong Associations, Chambers and Unions – Strong Defenders of Interests”.
