The First Meeting of the Public Council Adjunct to the RA Minister of Economy Took Place

On March 26, the first meeting of the Public Council adjunct to the RA Minister of Economy was held under the leadership of RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan. The agenda included five topics.

Congratulating the members, the Minister emphasized that their experience would help, through joint discussions, to develop solutions that would enhance the effectiveness of the large-scale work being carried out.

During the meeting, the Ministry’s programs and priority measures for 2026 were presented, with reference made to key priorities.

Council members expressed their readiness to be actively involved, presenting a number of issues and proposals identified through their interactions with economic operators.

In particular, Arsen Ghazaryan, President of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, proposed that upcoming discussions prioritize the implementation of land reform, as well as the need for a “Law on Investments,” which would make Armenia more attractive.

Referring to the Ministry’s ongoing successful programs that should be preserved and continued, the President of the Union noted that, in terms of public awareness, these programs should be more widely publicized, not only by Ministry officials, but also by representatives of the Public Council, analysts, experts, and individuals who have benefited from these programs.

Speaking about the issue of opening the Armenian-Turkish border, Arsen Ghazaryan expressed confidence that Armenia’s economic sector is sufficiently developed to cooperate with Turkey. He proposed establishing a working group to identify potential risks for businesses following the opening of the border, in order to avoid issues within the framework of WTO regulations, to understand in which sectors Armenian products are competitive, where protection may be needed, and which areas require business support.

It was decided that the agendas of Public Council meetings would be formed jointly by council members and the Ministry, ensuring bilateral cooperation aimed at jointly addressing issues.

Gevorg Papoyan reaffirmed the Ministry’s readiness to cooperate with council members, discuss the submitted proposals, and jointly develop solutions that will contribute to the country’s economic development.
