THE DANISH EXPERIENCE OF OVERCOMING OBSTACLES FACED BY WOMEN IN THE WORKPLACE WAS PRESENTED
In the relatively short period of cooperation between the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia and the Confederation of Danish Industry (since April of this year), several initiatives have already been launched. After familiarization visits of the organizations’ delegations, an international gathering was organized in Zagreb, dedicated to the possibilities of deepening relations with the European Union, followed by a “Women in the Workplace” training course held in Copenhagen with the participation of Armenian specialists.
On October 10, the participants of this course, on the initiative of the Union of Women Employers of Yerevan and the surrounding regions and the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, invited human resource management specialists from member organizations and SMEs to a seminar to present European experience in the field.
The president of the Union of Women Employers of Yerevan and nearby regions, Susanna Khalatyan, introduced the participants to the joint programs being implemented with the Confederation of Danish Industry. Lusine Margaryan, Head of Human Resources at BDO Armenia, spoke about the Copenhagen training and the visits and meetings held within its framework, presenting the Danish experience in overcoming workplace obstacles, the latest approaches and strategies for gender equality, and legislative regulations.
Another participant, Alin Masryan, founder of the “Halep” brand, presented her study titled “Powerful Women in Business,” addressing women’s preferred business sectors, gender-based pay differences, the balance between career and personal life, keys to success, and offering useful professional advice.
The speakers also answered many questions of interest to the participants.
The head of the Labor Statistics Department of the Statistical Committee of Armenia, Lusine Kalantaryan, was also present at the seminar.
