THE UMBA DELEGATION PARTICIPATED IN AN INTERNATIONAL GATHERING IN ZAGREB.
On October 9, the delegation of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia took part in an international gathering in the capital of Croatia, Zagreb. The meeting addressed the possibilities of deepening relations with the European Union, the role of the business community in this process, and shared the experience of Croatia’s Employers’ Association in EU integration.
The discussion, organized by the Confederation of Danish Industry, also included the participation of leaders from the business unions of Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia. UMBA was represented by the Union’s vice presidents, Nerses Karamanukyan and Armen Martirosyan. Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ coordinator for relations with the European Union also took part in the discussions.
“During the discussions, the idea was particularly emphasized that representatives of the business community must be involved in all negotiations on association with the European Union,” said UMBA Vice President Armen Martirosyan. It was noted as important to give businesses the opportunity to voice their concerns and make well-founded proposals to protect the interests of economic operators.
“Our European partners’ experience shows that the rules established in the EU are not rigid, and through active engagement and presenting substantiated issues, much can be achieved. It is possible to include provisions and mechanisms in the regulations and agreements with the EU that also serve the interests of national economies and businesses,” added UMBA’s Vice President Nerses Karamanukyan.
