Message from UMBA President Arsen Ghazaryan on the occasion of Entrepreneur’s Day

Dear Entrepreneurs, Dear Compatriots,

For the ninth year now, starting from 2017, March 3 has been officially celebrated in Armenia as Entrepreneur’s Day by decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The date was not chosen by chance: it marks the birthday of the prominent Armenian businessman and great philanthropist Alexander Mantashyants. The initiative came from the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, which this year marks its third decade of activity.

Numbers and facts speak for themselves, yet behind every statistic lies a story of dedication and hard work, of achievements and setbacks, of human destinies.

The path of forming and establishing entrepreneurship in independent Armenia has not been easy. It has progressed through the challenging process of building a private economy and market relations, overcoming the difficult periods of wars, blockades, and social tensions, while also contributing to the development of the economic legislative framework. Armenian entrepreneurs have diligently and consistently created business traditions, production capacities, and economic ties, entering foreign markets. Today, we can rightfully state with pride that we have an established and internationally competitive business community, professional, knowledgeable, capable of flexible and unique solutions, and ready to apply advanced technologies and innovations.

The public perception of the Armenian entrepreneur has also changed significantly. Today, the entrepreneur is a partner of the state, the main contributor to the national budget, a creator of jobs and prosperity, driver of progress, a supporter in solving social issues, a philanthropist and patron.
